Edge Computing Researcher
The OpenIoT RU is searching for a talented and motivated Edge Computing Researcher to join our team.
The ideal candidate will perform research activities on the combination of the following topics to be applied specifically in the field of Internet of Things:
Edge computing architecture and design: study the design and implementation of edge computing systems and architectures, including the development of frameworks and standards to enable interoperability and seamless integration with existing infrastructure;
Edge computing resource management: This involves developing techniques and algorithms for efficient resource allocation and management in edge computing systems, including energy optimization, load balancing, and resource provisioning;
Edge computing performance evaluation and optimization: this involves identifying metrics and developing tools to accurately evaluate the performance and effectiveness of edge computing systems, including latency, throughput, and reliability and applying optimization strategies;
Edge computing data management: this area of research focuses on developing techniques for managing and analyzing data at the edge of the network, including data storage, retrieval, processing, and analytics.
The target objective is to integrate such technologies and approaches into EU-funded innovation projects targeting the design and development of a novel software architecture to support the delivery of IoT, edge-to-cloud distributed applications.
Edge AI Researcher
The OpenIoT RU is searching for a talented and motivated Edge AI Researcher to join our team.
The ideal candidate position will perform research activities on the combination of the following topics to be applied in the field of Internet of Things:
Emerging technologies for embedding AI on constrained devices (such as application of lightweight ML algorithms and tinyML on microcontrollers, sensors and Edge devices);
Approaches and methodologies for adaptation and optimization of Deep Neural Networks (DNN) to edge devices (such as model compression, model quantization, pruning, knowledge distillation, etc.) and related training methodologies;
In-network processing for constrained sensing devices;
Edge to Cloud Continuum Computing Architectures and techniques for intelligence distribution.
The target objective is to integrate such technologies and methodologies into EU-funded innovation projects targeting the design and development of a novel software architecture able to integrate the connected devices through an Internet of Things paradigm.
Edge Computing Developer
The OpenIoT RU is searching for talented and motivated Edge Computing developers interested in working on innovation projects, in joint collaboration with edge and cloud researchers.
The ideal candidate position will perform research activities on the combination of the following topics to be applied specifically in the field of Internet of Things:
Designing distributed applications leveraging both on cloud and edge computing resources;
Server-side programming, from business logic to data persistence, exploiting CI/CD best practices;
Mobile application development;
Integration of IoT devices using standards protocols for IoT (such as MQTT, CoAP, AMQP, etc.) and of advanced computing technologies (e.g. GPUs) for the efficient execution of AI algorithms in the edge;
Software testing, troubleshooting and performance optimization (includes usage of metrics and tools to evaluate the performance and effectiveness of edge computing systems, such as latency, throughput, reliability, etc.);
The target objective is to integrate such technologies and approaches into EU-funded innovation projects targeting the design and development of a novel software architecture to support the delivery of IoT, edge-to-cloud distributed applications.
The successful candidate will be part of a growing team with extensive experience in the research on Internet of Things and cognitive technologies.

The OpenIoT RU is searching for a Junior IoT Software Developer that will work in the scope of various research and industrial projects, in close collaboration with the existing team of researchers, research engineers, and developers of the RU.
